A Thousand Little Cuts accomplishes several somethings I have never seen before, including combining the horror movie trope of "there's a stranger attacking me" and the reality of "the assailant is someone you know". The MC wakes up injured in a hospital and is interrogated by the hospital psychiatrist hell-bent on digging up the truth. Through her questioning, we uncover the thousands of microtraumas that the MC experienced leading to a shocking - and completely rational - crime.
