This one is on me, thought this was gonna be a thriller or procedural like The Fugitive, but about 30 mins in it takes a sharp left turn into a slow burn love story about Harrison Ford becoming Amish?

Cruising 1980
A grimy postcard of 80s NYC that feels like time travel. I like that this film balances its central murder mystery with genuine atmosphere as Pacino descends deeper into the leather underworld. Guess this one had baggage at the time it was released about its portrayal of the LGTBQ community but it also absolutely nails corrupt cops and institutional violence. Definitely not copaganda - just Friedkin firing on all cylinders like his other sleazefest To Live and Die in LA

Rebel Ridge 2024
Aaron Pierre is a great lead and super convincing badass in this. Don Johnson also plays that corrupt cop archetype so damn well. Think this could have been a little shorter, drags a bit in the middle. Great ending sequence though.
