  i had a very clear idea of where i would’ve liked this premise to go, and it ended up being really predictable and entirely unambiguous instead — stylistically beautiful, tho. and actually sort of funny, so if you’re into that, go ahead.

  this was a wholly unnecessary remake that not only misses the point of the original, but spins it into a fresh, new tale ripe with painfully unimaginative misogyny and some extra bigotry the 1922 (!) film did not have (and it had enough). it took everything that was vague and diffuse and thus compellingly haunting in the original and turned it into a caricature. I have no idea what movie all you terminally online freaks saw, but this fucking sucked.…
