  Keira Knightley was on some other shit in this, watching her made me physically unwell—it was extremely tight.

  Visually compelling and surprisingly funny for a historical fiction, this movie is definitely worth a watch for a different flavor of Cronenberg I didn’t know existed.

  Half a star off for no head explosions

  I feel really silly for having no criticisms for this, it just rules. If you’re looking for the most metatextual, reality-bending, bombastic and self-recognizing way to enrich two hours of your life, throw this film on. Miko Hughes was a complete powerhouse, at once delivering maybe the most adorable and terrifying child performance I’ve ever seen.

  If the runtime seems intimidating, there’s also a perfect intermission point just over halfway through; we broke our viewing up over two days.
