This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
theres a lot to enjoy here and i certainly had a good time but this is significantly sloppier than Us somehow . good first act and i absolutely loved when it was mysterious and tense and spooky but like an hour in it basically just turns into an entirely different and much shittier film where people yell back and forth in the desert
also it felt so weird to me that the thrust of the plot was literally “let’s get famous.” you see the saucers digest like 30 people while theyre alive and youre still talking about getting on oprah dude?

on a technical level i can acknowledge that this is basically a masterpiece but it just does not mesh well with the (flawless) original
like, i fucking hate the marine angle. yeah they look cool, yeah their dialogue is fun, yeah its sick to watch them get eaten in spite of their hubris but every scene of them mowing down like hundreds of stupid zombie bugs really lessens the first film’s straight up superb depiction of the Xenomorph as this unrelenting brutal perfect specimen.
