  “If dreams can’t come true, then why not pretend?”

  I recommend this to everyone I know every October. If I only got to watch one spooky season movie, it would be this one (even though it’s actually a miniseries). It’s deeply funny, beautifully animated, and just heartwrenching enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. I have a lot of thoughts on this show generally, but last night’s viewing just left me with a very warm content feeling; it’s autumn again and the world is still turning.

  Okay, obviously I love the BBC miniseries adaptation of this story because of its thoroughness. Obviously it’s fantastic and much closer to the exact events of the novel. With that out of the way, I think this film is the absolute best possible feature-length film version of the story.
