A Fistful of Dollars 1964
Don’t get me wrong. I actually loved this movie but it get half credit for blatant plagiarism.
Other than that I think this movie does a good job at taking it’s own spin on my favorite movie. Performances are great and the director’s flair is undeniably unique and strong. This movie succeeds as a remake because it’s clear the director had a lot of love for Yojimbo.
Just don’t steal it.

The best pacing and characters, super stylish and fun. My ONLY criticism is that “the big reveal” upon rewatching, there are some scenes that don’t make sense if Tyler hadn’t existed, but the psychological thriller conclusion is so good that I can forgive it.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007
Fine outside of the context of the original work. Burton has a very distinct style that flows throughout this movie. The source material is a dark and brooding story with a lot to enjoy and the creative use of blood and gore throughout disgust but also absolutely add to the scenery and vision of the director.
But I hate it.
