The Brutalist 2024
Had this been a True Story I might have been more apt to forgive it's indulgences, but learning that this prolonged and ponderous allegory for the immigrant experience, complete with fleeing Fascism only to be literally fucked in the ass by Capitalism, was an exercise in someone's artistic expression just made me wish it had been delivered by someone with a greater sense of brevity.
As good as he is here, Adrian Brody already won an Oscar for this performance…

This is such an agreeably good natured biopic that it's hard to pick fault.
It flirts with hagiography with Dylan presented in near glowing light throughout; the cherubic soul of a nation; genius pouring from him with nonchalant persistence, it's only his careless treatment of others' affections that shows any chinks in his shaggy armour.
In lieu of sex or drugs, the film does well in conveying the demonisation and derision that Rock N' Roll was shown at the hands…
