a fairly loose adaptation but very much in the spirit of Stephen King. unfortunately, that's exactly why this movie just doesn't work for me: too plot-focused, cartoonish characters with no development, and plagued with voice-over narration. the King stories that become successful adaptations seem to be those that retain the story of the text but offer a different lens to view it through--the opposite of what's been done here.

V for Vendetta 2005
I have never been so enraged by the lighting of a movie. Watching this directly after reading the comic was apparently a mistake because the source material is so clearly superior to this, in both writing and visuals.
Unless you're making an HBO limited-series adaptation, please leave Alan Moore's work alone.
