Robert Eggers has captured more of my attention with Nosferatu. I was a big fan of the Northman and I plan to soon carve out time to watch both the Lighthouse and the Witch. Nosferatu approached horror in a way that kept me unsettled and tense throughout the film, rather than relying solely on more brief moments of fright with jump scares. Performances were very solid across the board, with Depp and Dafoe being personal favorites. The film excelled in its cinematography, and in my opinion may even be the strongest aspect of Nosferatu.
A very solid follow up to the first Dune, but I would not go as far as saying it’s on the level of other sequels that surpass the first like Empire and the Dark Knight. Nevertheless, Dune part two delivers in being a sci-fi spectacle meant to be seen on the big screen. The film is as immersive as I had expected, largely thanks to the direction by Denis and the score by Hans Zimmer.
I recommended this movie for my friend to watch before I even watched it myself. Fast forward a few months and that friend had me watch it with him and a couple of other friends. I didn’t know at the time, but I do know now that this may be one of the best movie recs I’ve ever given him.
