Would have made a better documentary than a movie. A lot of fluff and no real tense moments.
This is a heartwarming, heart wrenching, gut punch of a movie in all the best ways even when it's the saddest. It is not manipulative, it is not overly dramatic, it is life and life is hard. The story plays out in a sweet manner between two people finding friendship, acceptance, and strength in and through each other. Then the rug is pulled out from under the audience and every tear your body has saved for the last two years…
This is not a well made movie, but if you can get past all the obvious flaws there's an interesting story of addiction, recovery, accountability, and caring.
What works for the movie is the characters. They are all likeable in some way and you want to root for them. It's just a shame that some disappear and leave their stories unfinished.
Could have been better in a more skilled director's hands.
You know it's bad when Adam Scott is the best part of the movie. The performances were junior high school bad, the action was borderline seizure inducing, the story was everything but Madame Web based, and the direction was non-existent. Pretty sure SJ Clarkson got a paycheck for doing no work. This was a trash movie that had no business ever being made. Sony needs to let go of the Spider-Man IP and leave superheroes where they belong...anywhere but in Sony's hands.
