Memory 2023
A lovely, low-key character study of a woman with too many memories who meets a man who without enough of them. It’s modest, no-frills filmmaking buoyed by an insightful script and raw, sensitive performances by Chastain, Sarsgaard, Wever, and the whole ensemble. The story manages to incorporate more than its share of thorny topics - alcoholism, dementia, dysfunctional families - with a refreshing lack of didacticism and an eye for NYC specificity. Highly recommended if you’re into that sort of thing.
