A decent, albeit slow-moving and overly long, sequel. Lacks the cat-and-mouse tension of the original Den of Thieves, with a less engaging crew. More of a Fast/Furious vibe (including the set up for continuing the franchise). That said, the Nick/Donnie relationship is fun, and I’m sure I’ll rewatch once it hits streaming.

Friday Night Lights 2004
As a former sportswriter who covered high school football, I thought this story accurately portrays the pressures on teenage athletes in high-profile programs. Based on a true story (I’ve read the book multiple times and highly recommend it), it depicts the title aspirations of Permian High School in football-crazy West Texas. Performances were good, and football action was realistic, other than the stereotypical big hits on just about every play. Part of a rare trifecta of excellent book, movie and TV show.

Better Man 2024
I’m not British and don’t listen to pop music, I literally had never heard of Robbie Williams. Saw this only because it was a “Mystery Movie” night at Regal and was led to believe it would be Den of Thieves 2. I thought the motion capture technology was pretty good, and Williams certainly told an honest story about himself (again, didn’t know it what autobiographical until after the fact). Some of the music numbers were also well executed. Ultimately some big swings here; a decent one-time watch.
