  Undeniably so much fun and some of the individual scenes were genuinely hilarious, especially the opening factory ones. Did get slightly repetitive and I thought the romance was whatever. I did really like how Chaplin used sound here though, being his final silent film. The music was brilliant and it highlights how much can be conveyed without words even in ‘modern times’.Embarrassed to say this is my first Chaplin film, excited to check out more.

  Terrifying in the sense that this could happen to anybody at any point and we would have no power to stop it. Incredibly dull at times but that was most likely the point.

  Best last 30 minutes of a film I’ve seen in a long time. I sat with a fat grin on my face the whole time. I often say a movie either has the sauce or it doesn’t and this has the fucking sauce. The split diopter shot are you fucking serious.

  Really struggling to explain why this didn’t fully work for me. I loved a lot of the individual scenes, loved all the performances, loved the aliens ! I feel like this just tried to tackle too much. So many ideas crammed into this, and a lot of the ideas I liked. But the narrative just felt meandering for a lot of this, throwing out ideas and concepts that end up being insignificant. So conflicted and will definitely need a rewatch to better collect my thoughts.
