it moves fast... a little bit too fast. for so many times, I found myself wondering how we arrived to one particular moment in the story. I wish there were more story beats between major ones. this way, I believe, film would be putting those relationships, characters and incidents in the best light. because, they all are brilliant... they just lack some connective tissue. that said, that same rapid pace also creates a thrilling roller-coaster ride that never fails to entertain, much like Altman’s other films.

also, this is the only kind of story with some of that self-referential shit that I can take.

this film formally cheats, but still manages to steal my heart. if the found footage-style fictional scenes lacked authentic found footage or excerpts from other media, then I would have called it an hollow trick. but the deceit is rooted in half-truths. so, a big thumbs-up in that domain.

yet, I would be more moved if unmasked fictional parts would actually be more grounded in storytelling rather than mere observation. I never truly felt like I got to know the characters, let alone experience a plot.

shit, I dunno what to think. decent writing with some fun but no real insight. acting? questionable. didn't see any "lou" - only kristen stewart acting. lastly, body horror elements feel gimmicky, no actual exploration there either.

After learning that this was my father's favorite, I watched it—or more accurately, rewatched it. Some scenes would work nicely as sketches… but that’s not exactly a compliment for a film. There are some funny jokes, gags, and characters, but it ultimately fails at telling a good story. I mean, why does all of these shit happen? Just because it's funny? That's not the way.
