  this movie reminds me so much of a book i loved — "natural beauty" by ling ling huang. "slanted" was so interesting to me because of how it played with so many different genres. there are a lot of comparisons to "mean girls" and "the substance," which i definitely saw. there was some horror that surprised me and i loved the details of the film, some of which, i didn't even notice, but the director pointed them out afterwards. shirley…
