An unserious sci-fi-cum-dark comedy (lol) that carries a certain heavy-handed studio intervention feel, yet was an enjoyable watch—plus, great to see a BJH & RP collaboration.

    Two weirdos doing great things.

Nicely situated in the film category of “small plot, lots of feeling”, oh and Tokyo shoots so well

Whilst some difficulty found in dispensing with the pitfalls of musical biopic crutches [“play this”] & other contrived opportunities to insert a song, Chalamet and a resolute Barbaro delivered some excellent renditions.

I love Bob Dylan (father’s son) and seeing the level of commitment from Chalamet (without fading into caricature) and his unreal press tour probably garners the most of my affection for this film.

Thrilling first act (Orlok’s gothic fever castle excellent) then unfortunately betrayed by a faulted second and third act.

A commendable LRD & Dafoe output, everyone else providing pretty mid performances for Eggers w exception to Skarsgård who leaves zero trace of self (although does he have one)
