i feel like my knowledge and ability to write and provide opinion falls flat while talking about this film. how beautifully and painfully vishal bhardwaj threaded the connection between a 17th century english play and the devastating political crisis of 21st century south asia. haider will, and i hope it does, truly stand the test of time and will be a movie we will keep looking back to remind ourselves how glorious the peaks of cinema at its prime in south asia was. how far we have sinked from then.
also; this must have the best and the most brilliant rewriting of rosencratz and guildenstern ever.

i knew my hatred for this film came from a very correct place even before i watched it.
this is the oscar winner for cinema, director and actress? shame on the current state of academy and other awarding bodies.
the biggest failure of this film at its core is that by the time it is over i could read on and tell way more about people like toros, garnik and even galina and nikolai zakharov who appear for barely few…

this one particular scene where they throw pebbles at an advert billboard and try to find joy in it truly explains the very essence of this movie. how much courage it takes for an Indian woman to deal with the mundanes of life, to exist, to be within the constrains. how much courage it takes just to be a woman. a beautiful ode to women, a city and the life of women in that city by a woman.
