Rewatched this after I've gotten a bit more into wrestling which only really helped with knowing who some of the people are (Bruiser Brody, Terry Gordy etc) but this movie isn't really about the sport and more of a character study at it's heart.
I hope we get more wrestler biopics, I think the Hart family would be great for it. Looking forward to Queen of the Ring.
I'd seen this a couple of times years ago and I still enjoy it. A black comedy that deals with the idolization of the dead with morbidly goofy satire but smart enough to leave room for conversation and self reflection.
What sticks with me most from the movie is the depiction of how society over fixates and mystifies for reasons obviously spoonfed to them. In this case a teen social reject, played hilariously by Daryl Sabara, dies from autoerotic asphyxiation…
