    Sound of Metal

    ★★★★½

This was definitely a whole experience. Raw yet tender at the same time, Sound of Metal is a hard pill to swallow.

The film takes us on the journey of Ruben, a drummer who looses his hearing but is not yet ready to accept his new life.

What I loved most about this, is how it doesn't hold back when it comes to show the way Ruben hears things. Its impeccable and immersive sound design can sometimes be stressful, but it is necessary…

    Scream

    ★★★★★

I’ve seen Scream a million times and i’ts amazing how i still find new details with every rewatch.

The amount of horror movie references that appear in this film is unbelievable. Not only there are direct references through dialog, but also in the actual narrative of the film, in the execution of the murders, in the soundtrack, even in some of the characters’ names.

I could watch this film forever.

In case you’re interested, I’ve created a list that includes all the movies that are mentioned in Scream, check it out: boxd.it/5g6WS

Definitely not what i expected... i didn't hate it and i kinda liked that they went with a different tone, but it does feel a little disappointing.

I was hoping for a more Micheal/Laurie centered storyline, but the film seems to constantly avoid a confrontation between these two and decides to focus on a completely new character that we've never seen before.
BIG SWING, but not the best way to end a franchise in my opinion.

EDIT: adding an extra half star because of how much Jamie Lee Curtis loves and respects Laurie's character. I will be forever grateful.

  • Lake Bodom

    Lake Bodom

    ★★

Lake Bodom starts off pretty strong, with a great set up, an interesting background story and decent characters.
During the first half hour the film follows the typical slasher structure, and does a great job at it. But then it tries to innovate by adding multiple twists that don't fully work and the film just takes a wrong turn.

These multiple twists also cause the opposite effect of their purpose, since the story becomes boring and monotonous right away. It's unavoidable to stop…
