Obviously a big-budget film is a crazy thing to call a B-Movie nowadays but this kind of is in a way (at least in comparison to other IP-driven big budget blockbusters), and I wish more movies were willing to just be stupid and fun like this! When they said they were making a D&D movie I was kind of like well how does this even work but I think this captures the funny, genuine spirit of a classic campaign well. Unfortunately I love D&D so I’m knowledgeable about this

the graphic novel this movie is based on was arguably the first piece of writing that made me feel seen as a closeted kid, and though the movie doesn’t feel as grounded in that as i’d hoped (it is pretty clearly a quippy pg movie meant for a certain audience) it still captures the heart of the original well and i’ll admit i’m very biased in favor of this particular story. it’s going to mean so much to so many queer and trans kids that this exists
