even this POSTER is so incredible look at it
this is a really fun adaptation. the filming is lush. mia farrow is so, so good as this jilted fiancee who starts showing up everywhere on her ex's honeymoon (not a spoiler this is like first 15 minutes stuff), angela lansbury as a tabloid style writer, maggie smith as a really, really angry maid.

this is just a delightful movie. i didn't know anything going in other than the two stars. but everyone in the entire cast is so, so charming and good. as time passes, i value more and more these kind of ensemble casts that have a lot of believably normal looking character actors, especially older people without extensive plastic surgery.
i really liked this -- very humanizing in an important way, and correctly categorizes jonestown as a mass murder, not anyone's suicides.
what a peculiar movie! the tone is inconsistent and makes no sense, i would guess because of studio notes turning the original idea into shredded iceberg lettuce over time. but the ideas conjured by it are interesting -- generation ships, ethics of other people's lives and liberty, etc.
in a way, it's the ultimate boiling down of how a "romantic movie" can do literally anything, no matter how immoral, to the woman half of the couple, and twist them back…
