first off, ga-eul is a character with so much potential, but she feels underdeveloped. we're told she's a deaf swimmer aiming for the olympics, but the film never really explores what that means. there's a lack of depth in understanding the challenges she faces, both as an athlete and as a deaf person. it feels like her deafness is just a part of her, but not something the movie feels the need to explore in any meaningful way.
