  The bar for Bong is so incredibly high in my mind that despite having an unquestionable good time here, I initially felt a bit disappointed. This isn’t Memories of Murder, this isn’t Parasite, this isn’t Snowpiercer (though there are some similarities). It’s more along the lines of Okja, for me, which is to say it’s good and fun but not transcendent. I have to give it credit for pulling no punches in its bleak vision for the near future, and everyone is extremely good and having fun.

  Pretty much perfect early year fun trash. It has comfortably familiar twists, rock solid construction, and a whole spate of performances that are on the perfect wavelength with what the movie is aiming for. I do find it a bit hard to engage with the robot as an allegory when there is so much I feel is sinister about actual AI, but that’s the kind of bigger picture stuff this movie rightfully has no interest in.

  Leslie Iwerks is truly the great corporate propagandist of our time. This makes the Imagineering Story look like hard journalism.
