  what i liked: the  absurdity
  what i did not like:
  1) the objectification of the female body, from the very first shot onwards. idc i get the movie is ABOUT sex but there was a gigantic disparity between which gender was sexualized (the solution to that wouldn’t be to show dicks, though). i feel like the movie can still be about people’s dark fantasies and morally corrupt behaviors without showing everything they showed
  2) that last scene. or the last two scenes. weak ass resolution
  3) exposition! why would see an event occur and then see him recount exactly what happened? like, we were literally there…

  ava duvernay ruined my day frr

  the movie was very moving and i appreciated the new framework with which to perceive persecution. however, i personally disagree with explicitly depicting violence in movies when portraying real-life people and events. i am more than capable of feeling anguish without seeing violence occurring, but watching it heightens the feeling of pain to a degree i shouldn’t be experiencing while simply watching a movie. now, perhaps that is a me problem bc i feel…
