The best moments of this movie are the ones played completely straight. The emotional scenes with Shadow the Hedgehog and Maria the real human child feel genuinely heartfelt somehow, and the scenes where sonic and friends are talking to an army general are really funny. The quips, pop culture references, and 4th wall breaks continue to be very frustrating and unenjoyable. Jim Carrey can be funny without quipping.
Also the live and learn scene was freaking awesome sauce. Little kid me would've loved it.
