The Falling 2014
This was an unexpectedly enjoyable watch.
The themes of trauma, womanhood, solidarity, defiance and grief are enshrined between an engaging interplay between reality and the paranormal which keeps the mystery of what's actually happening alive.
It explores the tragic nature of trauma through the lens of Womanhood and all that comes with it. Men are only sparsely shown on screen but despite this, the effects of living under the patriarchy are on full display.
The visual storytelling was interesting and the effects of loss in the absence of support area palpable. Motherhood and intergenerational trauma coming through in a beautiful year tragic way, too.
