I don’t totally know what the point of the movie was. I don’t feel like it leaned into its premise enough. I mean, I sort of get the message (life is precious and not expendable), but the conveying of this message was really quite muddy. The idea of continuous printing is really cool, but I struggle to see how that's relevant after the halfway mark. Generally speaking, the movie falls off around halfway through. It was funny, though, and I do think it was well acted, so I’m still glad I saw it.

Amazing, awesome spectacle. I had so much fun watching this. Anno is a genius. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen.

Gigantic naval battles are defined as even bigger than you imagined when mechas fly out of the ships like tiny rockets, before the ships themselves transform into giant mechas, etc. It borrows sound effects and music from the original series, including the iconic Angel cannon noise…
