Respectfully, will we look back on this film in 3–5 years and question whether it was truly deserving of Best Picture? I’m not saying Mikey Madison isn’t an outstanding actor, but in my opinion, it’s not the best film of the year—I preferred The Brutalist. I enjoyed the propulsive, fever-dream momentum of the first half more than the slapstick search and annulment in the second.
A bloated, hyper-violent cameo machine. Maybe 10 minutes of good movie trapped in this dumpster fire. An interesting crime caper that ultimately fails under the weight of its star — Brad Pitt. If you haven’t already seen it, save yourself and just watch a classic like Die Hard or Kill Bill.
I watched this movie with my daughter before the penultimate episode of Andor. I’ve seen this film 3-4 times, including in theaters, but it was interesting to watch with a 5-year-old. Besides the original trilogy, Rogue One is the best Star Wars feature. I think what I respect most is that it doesn’t get bogged down in the Skywalker story. This movie doesn’t feature Jedi, and it’s the better for that choice. It’s a war movie, not a Star Wars…
