i saw this film and actually lived in parallel worlds. my friend and i entered the wrong sala de cine without realizing we were in part 2 of the film. we flowed and were immediately immersed in the cross space time movements of this film. transversality. stimuli. the absurd. the loops. the swirls. the existential dread. 

the movie ended and we decided to enter another film. as we did, we begin to realize we were entering the actual tanda we were supposed to be going to. we watched it again, this time, starting from the second half of the first part. fuck.

La santa niña (2004) expone la complejidad profunda del desarrollo de la sexualidad. Martel tiene un impulso de distraer una escena tensa mediante un elemento cotidiano. La cámara busca ángulos, divisiones y geometrías irregulares. La escena que más me impactó fue la última, en la que desde una toma alta, las niñas nadan en la piscina. Aquí, can y vienen, aparecen y se desaparecen del retrato mientras cantan. La textura del agua refleja el techo y los colores azules de la luz mientras las niñas aparentan deslizarse. Hay inocencia después de todo...
