Oh hell yes. What a picture! One of the most entertaining films ever made, Raiders of the Lost Ark is a pulpy blast of adventure from beginning to end!

Harrison Ford shines as Indiana Jones, who is my favorite protagonist in any Spielberg movie, culminating in some of the best action in any movie I’ve ever seen, with such a simplistic but compelling story. Marion and Sallah are also great and fun characters, as are the actors playing them. Shoutout…

Terrifying, yet captivating. What a picture!

I was genuinely enthralled in the filmmaking on display, and yet also scared out of my mind from the terrifying presentation, for the entirety of this movie. Words are difficult to do this remake justice. And yes, I am calling it a remake and not a re-adaptation, which is what I called Little Women, West Side Story, and All Quiet on the Western Front.

For a pretty decent year of horror (shoutout to The…

This has significantly grown on me over time, despite its divisive nature. It's a genuine spectacle with gripping action and suspense, a solid story, and some of the absolute best sound design of 2024 (how this didn't even make the Oscars shortlist for Sound is beyond me). All of this makes the experience insanely potent. It's also politically very neutral; EVERYONE IS A WAR CRIMINAL HERE.

To this day, my biggest problem with this film is that the characters are…

Very solid movie, and one of Spielberg’s more emotional works of this decade. Whoopi Goldberg debuts here and gives a powerful performance, and Oprah Winfrey does fantastically here too (also a film debut for her). The film is insanely well-directed, and the score by Quincy Jones is one of a kind!

I guess the biggest problem I have with The Color Purple is that it sticks out in Spielberg’s catalog, particularly it’s slightly-too-upbeat tone given the heavy subject matter and source material. I’m not a fan of the comedic nature surrounding the abusive characters.

    Otherwise, great movie!

So I just saw James Gunn's The Suicide Squad (2021).

I am making that specific distinction of this movie to distinguish it from its predecessor, Suicide Squad (2016). I make said distinction because that 2016 film is a film I cannot stand. I thought the 2016 film had absolute garbage editing, mostly flat and unlikable characters (with two or so exceptions, one of which is reappearing in this movie, interestingly enough), a completely random and forced soundtrack, a terrible script,…

Well, I have finally witnessed with my own eyes the next film from Denis Villeneuve. That, of course, being Dune, based on the book by Frank Herbert.

Before I begin, I must stress to those unaware going in: this is an adaptation of only the first half of the book (which I managed to read prior to this), and the film itself is titled “Part 1.” With that out of the way, I need to share my thoughts.

    I… I…
