It is insane to me how criminally underappreciated this is. Damien Chazelle is one of my favorite filmmakers working today and I consider Babylon to be his Magnolia. A 3 hour sprawling epic of sorts that is communicating so much and filled with excellent performances. I seriously consider this to be among Brad Pitt’s best work, Jack Conrad is such a great character. I hope that people will look back on this film more fondly in the future

La Chimera 2023
Josh O’Connor is one of my favorite actors working today. His performance in this feels so nostalgic, it’s as if he was plucked straight from the 70s

Elfen Lied 2004
Man, that opening scene in the first episode is seriously one of the best openings I’ve ever seen in an anime. What this achieves to do in 13 episodes is incredible. The way this dives into filial bonds, the fragility of the child psyche, oppression of minorities, and just human nature in general is astonishing. This pushes the boundaries of the anime genre.
Also, one of my favorite OPs. Just listen to this masterpiece.

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus 1996
This was insanely cool. I love the Stones and the idea of having a rock and roll circus with so many different musical acts seems wildly original especially for the time. It’s said that this was released so late because the Stones were unhappy with their performance but I think they’re underselling it. Mick Jagger’s performance is extremely charismatic and while the other members aren’t really exhibiting that same level of enthusiasm the music still sounds great. I love the additions of The Who and John Lennon as well, they were both great.
