Hmm ok I outgrew this one, 6th watch, still gorgeous but the drama is so meh. I read the phrase "hyper-white pov" somewhere and it checks out, the whole romanticizing of the Hollywood business, the follow your dream & career over love mania, the white male heroism, the heterosexist in-your-face stereotypes and dialogues, the amount of black people in the background almost as decoration except for the one actual character that is only there as an obstacle in the way of the white man saving jazz. Can't unsee all that now.
