Midsommar 2019
Watching this for the second time made me appreciate all of the Easter eggs and subtle effects added they help to complete the movie. The writing is detailed in a “less is more” fashion, but it’s the small details like breathing backgrounds and inanimate objects, the score, the contrast of the darkness of a cult in a bright and sunny setting, and wide frames that complete this movie. I can’t consider this movie horror because it doesn’t scare me, per se, but instead puts me a constant state of tension that I have to consciously and constantly unwind myself from while I watch it.
