underrated! (it’s danish so…obvi) but a good portrayal of the devastating effects of patrilineage and the burden of masculinity. the very end is so unresolved that i’m not exactly sure what to make of it tho. the endless cycles of physical violence and male aggression is hard to watch but the soft music at the end played over moments of connection and vulnerability between the two boys gave it an intimacy and gentleness that feels necessary. it showed what could have been - a tenderness in moments where they were truly themselves, stripped of the need to perform masculinity.

okay white lotus! i generally have trouble with tv where there are no likeable characters or just an onslaught of decadence cuz it’s like why am i watching that? 🙄 but this one was entertaining enough to watch one evening so ya know why not 😜
