On one hand, this movie is not that bad. The concept was intriguing enough to keep me engaged whilst it being messy and the pacing in the middle was so repetitive and slow and then the ending was way too quick. But personally, I liked it and I enjoyed the visuals.

To be honest, they could have done a lot more. The core concept of this movie was interesting and had a very intriguing premise. However, it did not build suspense well and did not live up to expectations. But it was fairly well for a directorial debut though.

Just finished watching Gadis Kretek in one sitting and all
I can say is the netflix budget is budgeting👀

Dian Sastro’s performance was truly remarkable, as was Ario Bayu’s. Although I MADLY DEEPLY HATE SOERAJA bc I don’t know why he could live his life like that knowing the fact that he was totally WRONG for stealing [redacted] and why did he want to leave his kids and wife for a woman he briefly had an affair with???

#JusticeforOurDasiyah she should’ve ruled the kretek business with Rukayah together and got the happiness they deserved.

    Still a masterpiece on rewatch👏🏻

Definitely still up there as one of my fav movie of all time.
The cinematography is stunning as is the acting. Al Pacino as Michael Corleone is just untouchable and De niro is perfect as the young Vito Corleone. I mean, a 70s Robert De Niro speaking Sicilian, tell me something that is better than this.

The sequel took it much deeper, the way the differences between Vito and Michael on how they ran their family were impeccable and somehow very tragic.

It’s worth watching the full 3 hours and 22 minutes. Really flew by.
