It maybe could have been good! Started off with interesting themes about chaos vs control, but soon abandoned any further exploration of these themes and instead went with “what if incels had VR?”
My favorite part was when Harry styles danced “the boy can dance!!”

The Boy and the Heron is the sum of all of Miyazaki’s previous works - all of his recurring themes converge here in a bizarre and inspiring story. The heroes’ power often waxes and wanes, sometimes literally so.
Two themes ever-present in Miyazaki films are here as well: anti-war sentiment and moral ambiguity. These concepts seem like they would be at odds, but Miyazaki handles them masterfully. Why do the pelicans kill the warawara? Why does Himi torch the warawara…
After watching the vvitch and the lighthouse I was super excited for this movie. I had a few friends who loved it but I think they’re pretty into black metal and therefore Viking culture so you can’t really trust them in being objective about a film that is reliant on Norse mythology which was one of the only redeeming qualities about this film. Okay, maybe not only. There were great shots and action sequences, and I liked the retailing of hamlet interwoven into it. But all in all it felt flat and predictable. Still fun to watch though hehe
A beautiful film about loneliness, love and abandonment. Breathtaking cinematography and excellent camera movement. "In the Mood for Love" captivates the viewer visually, but also with its delicate way the story is doled out. A love story judiciously told.
