Third time watching Naked (1993). The characters in this film are some of the most miserable personalities put to screen. Mike Leigh’s filmmaking techniques are pretty standard, but he excels in getting incredible performances out of his actors. The brilliant score helps establish the  cold and bitter landscape in which these characters inhabit.

If there’s anything I learned from David Lynch, it’s that even in the darkest and most depraved situations, there’s always a sense of wonder and curiosity. He’ll show us the most bizarre, weird, and downright evil characters ultimately to juxtapose them with beautiful souls who embody the high school sweethearts and family members we’ve become familiar with in day to day life.
