the upright bass had me going. an incredibly ocean's 11-esque (my favorite movie) soundtrack for a movie that was very different. soderbergh! he's back, baby
folds and unfolds really well. a bit slow at first but then picks up. not a movie that makes you jump out your seat but has you lean forward more and more throughout the film. wicked ending.
cast was brilliant. need that white girl biblically.
great way to spend 90 minutes. if you don't like that, you don't like mid-budget cinema!
didn't really feel like the animation added anything unfortunately. the comic on its own is already so good! was interesting to see what they focused on compared to the source text though. the behind the scenes stuff was far less compelling than the equivalent thing for look back where they dove into the artistry and motivation a lot more.
without the context of the source text though it's a pretty decent romcom! maybe i'll watch more but apothecary diaries seems like a better way to scratch this particular itch
the beauty and the horror! see it on as big of a screen as you can.
there are movies that are fantastic and moving but that you only need see once or twice. for me furiosa is one of these movies, while i could watch fury road over and over. but furiosa is so good. kenrick and i gamer leaned in at least six times during the movie. george miller is a fucking sicko (laudatory)
