Best time ever but will someone PLEASE confirm the constant who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf through line

It’s perfect. Icy, sexy, perfection, where you’re laughing out loud and grinning but mostly fanning yourself and dreaming for when you grow up to be this glam. They REALLY don’t make em like this any more— a more ideal date night movie has never existed

For me, so much of this movie can be summarized in Ani looking up at Vanya on the steps of the plane, making a choice, and asking him if he had fun. I saw so much happen on Madison’s face (a repeated excellence through the film) — her flip back to placing this within her large Rolodex of predictable client interactions.

To everyone saying this is like a Wikipedia deep dive, I guess, but one I doubt the vast majority of people are capable of putting together themselves. Like, the average night of clicking links and following trails relates very little to this documentary, which has a monumental level of guidance, structure, and timing.

Sandra huller oh my god. Messi the dog, oh my god. Super brilliant things going on with auto fiction, language, lots of good stuff about the overall failure of representation, which of course is at the heart of all procedurals but so well heightened by triet’s choices. Love the gender inversion of Sandra’s crimes against Samuel. Too many excellent performances to count, but all anchored around how flexible and nuanced and likeable Sandra huller is. It’s not like a minute to minute thriller — it’s far more pensive than that — which makes the moments it is thrilling even more shocking.
