Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1

    ★★★★★

    Gritty, dirty and violent.

If you want to try out Bollywood wanna ease past the silly niches watch this criminal blockbuster. It is Bollywood’s ‘Godfather’ but even better. The way it portrays the criminal underworld in the rural corners of India is incredibly authentic. Stellar performances by all cast and crew, particularly Manoj Bajpayee (playing Sardar Khan), Richa Chadha (playing Nagma) and Pankaj Tripathi (playing Sultan).

Foolishly, in my first watch I questioned whether Tripathi was right for this role…

    My Mister

    ★★★★★

The greatest K-Drama of all time.

    - This a story not of love but companionship.
    - By the end of watching this, every character becomes a part of your life forever.
    - Love, hate, debt, death. The highest and lowest corners of Korean society are all on show here.
    - The duo of Lee Sun-kyun (playing Park Dong-Hoon) and IU (playing Lee Ji An) is unconventionally the greatest pairing I’ve ever seen.
    - The emotional journey these 16 episodes will take you on is inexplainable with just words.
    - R.I.P Lee Sun-kyun, this drama will be in my heart forever.

    In its own tier.

    - Memento is an absolute mind bender.
    - Christopher Nolan never misses with mystery thrillers and this is one of his early pieces of directing excellence.
    - Constantly keeping you on your toes and guessing whats gonna happen next, only for you to question whats happened before.
    - The blend of chronological sequence mixed in with non-chronological sequence is like playing a game, you’re learning and understanding what’s going to happen next, therefore you engage deeper with the story.
    - This is the height of mystery cinema.

Best mafia film of all time.

    - The first person narration allows you to get an in depth view of Hendry Hill's (played by Ray Liotta) relationships and work through his lense and helps you understand the protagonist through his good and bad decisions.
    - It’s authentic in its portrayal of the mob life and how there can be conflicts of interest when it comes to keeping yourself alive in this dangerous lifestyle.
    - Joe Pesci (playing Tommy DeVito) take a bow, an Oscar winning performance.
