  At this point, Rohit Shetty has put up so much time in creating his cop universe (rival to Yash Raj spy universe) that the screen is full of aging actors a la The Expendables. Ajay Devgn again plays Singham (who dons his cop uniform once before getting into sleeker clothes) whose wife (Kareena Kapoor) is kidnapped by the grandson of the criminal (Jackie Shroff) he put away in a previous installment.   Just saw this and totally loved it. Mark Rylance is a tailor to gangsters in gangland Chicago and the bulk of the movie takes place on one set. Def is twisty a la something like USUAL SUSPECTS but more intrinsic to the scenario. Great cast but this again shows Rylance’s gravitas and there’s still some genre thrill here too.

  PIG SNAKE PIGEON- I absolutely loved this. Ethan Juan is a cancer stricken gangster looking to off the top two Taiwanese gangsters. The film has some bracing and shocking moments with an excellent midpoint action scene complete with HERO NEVER DIES theme afterwards that feels very Johnnie To Milkyway but also switches gears in the last third with a bloody and crazy climax that has to be seen to be believed.
