  There is always so much that could have happened.

  Part of the immigrant experience is acknowledging the immense distance traveled in a short time: that you lived multiple selfs in one lifetime, that you are an extension of your parents' memories and dreams, and that you must reconcile who you are in the in-between. It's overwhelming to think about all that could have happened, and that we had so little control over it all.
