A much better movie than Stallone's version with some psychodellic slo-mo effects. It stays true to the 2000AD spirit. However, it felt like an almost carbon copy of The Raid but with a bigger budget. The best bit out of this movie is Judge Anderson just like in the comics. She is the human anchor of Dredd's inhuman steely sulking face. Mama and her gang has been well updated and this is purely an adult only entertainment piece. A pity it borrows the same template of The Raid.

John Carter 2012
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This movie reminds me of classic space operas/adventures of the past like Flash Gordon, with a flair of pulp European comics like Don Lawrence's Storm. It's a fun 2 hour flick with heart and well designed set pieces.
Andrew Stanton's direction is a little awkward in the beginning with too many close-ups and the pacing suffers during the Civil War flashback. The film however becomes more engaging during the burial sequences.
It is unfortunate the film is sabotaged by a lack of marketing whatsoever. I can't believe the marketing people took $1million for the movie, when we see hardly any promotion nor smart campaign about it.
