Eraserhead 1977
I love the dreamlike texture of the film, and I love the way the camera watches the characters. Sound is so important to this film and I think it succeeds in creating a (perhaps Kafka-inspired) surreal aural landscape. The performances are heightened and the conflicts passionate, not because of Henry but his wife, his sick alien. Until the end, when Henry kills.
