This movie has such overwhelming body horror that it made me nauseous even the next day but weirdly, it also feels like the most body positive movie I’ve seen in a while? It terrified me but it also made me feel seen. The way it captures self-hatred is both beautifully haunting and uncomfortably relatable.

My boyfriend couldn’t handle the gore and stopped watching it halfway through, but oh well, men. ☕️

This movie is the reason to why I was in the 0,05 ABBA top Spotify listener. Meryl Streep is an actual goddess and this movie is like a vacation in movie form with ABBA bangers, mesmerizing views, and just enough chaos to keep it interesting. It made me miss my mom and also want to drop everything and move to a Greek island.

Does the plot make sense? Nope. Do I care? Absolutely not. 10/10 comfort movie.

I deeply resented the fetishization of Arabic and berber cultures. I cannot stress this enough but this movie reminded me how Muslims/Arabs have been beyond dehumanized, to the point that their culture is considered an aesthetic separate from them. That said, the story, as showcased in the movie, lacked completely a common thread and as a sci-fi junkie, I felt let down.

10/10, could not recommend it enough

The 2 most clever aspects of the movie are :
    1) The film takes no interest in the killer’s motivations or psyche beyond providing the menace its female characters have to navigate

    2) The movie takes no interest in indulging in the horrible things the killer/rapist did to these women. It leaves it implied, it leaves it up to the horror of your imagination instead of offering grotesque gore scenes that cater to psychopaths.…
