  While the sounds and  shots (especially the black and white “xray” scenes) are phenomenal, i think the movie overall is boring. There doesn’t seem to really be a point to the movie. I get that scenes where maids are folding laundry while you hear dogs barking in the background are supposed to the portray the dark juxtaposition of the two very different realities during WWII but in the end it’s still just maids folding laundry, and kids playing with toys, and the mother tending to garden. This movie felt empty.

  Direction: Great

  Overall a good movie, the setting really elevated the eerie feeling of the film. The combination of specific shot angles,  subtle sound design, and unnerving visuals made the movie an engaging watch. The plot is what held the movie back. There were a lot of deaths that were underwhelming and some reactions to them didn’t make sense. Pieces of the main characters story were either not addressed or were weakly connected to the events in the movie. If you just focus on what you’re seeing instead of asking “why”,  the movie is entertaining. 3.5/5

  Good movie, not sure where the 4.5/5 star ratings are coming from. Pacing was good, acting was great, a lot of cliches and shallow supporting characters, plot conveniences. Still a fun watch
