(500) Days of Summer 2009
Both unbearable. Tom's idealistic projections are childish and irritating, I never felt empathy for him at any point. Painting a woman as the villain for simply not wanting anything to do with you is definitely a masculine experience. Summer, on the other hand, is selfish and reckless (which makes me think that she just hated him as much as I did). An avoidable situation if she had any respect for Tom or if Tom had any self-respect, but understandable that this is not the case, considering how pathetic he is. Plus, liking The Smiths as an adult is questionable. An overall quite pubescent movie.
