    Godzilla Minus One

    ★★★★

Set at the tale end of World War II, Minus One tells the tale of a pilot who witnesses an attack from a giant monster known to the locals as Godzilla.
For what should be a cheaply made B Movie, Minus One has some solid acting and stellar VFX that put Di$ney to shame.
The production values for a film that cost no more that $15m are astounding, and I can see why this won an Oscar for its VFX.…

    Gladiator II

    ★★★½

The concept of having a sequel to a well-revered film like Gladiator seemed a foolish idea, but it kinda works.
Historical inaccuracies and a plothole or two aside, we're left with a decent trip down memory lane.

    Alien: Romulus

    ★★★★

A large portion of Alien. A tablespoon of Aliens and a sprinkle of fan service makes Romulus the best Alien film we have had in a while.
I was pleased to see the design aspect wasn't lost in translation as from the opening scene we're put right back into Ridley's Alien universe and it looks and sounds exactly as it did in 1979.
For the most part, Romulus is a sci-fi horror, offering us the fear factor we should never…
