The Stepford Wives 1975
Not only is this a powerful thriller, it's also horrifying. It starts fairly slow, then ramps up in suspense and paranoia. I don't want to spoil anything, but some of the scenes will stay with you for a while.

Iron Man 3 2013
I didn't expect much after Iron Man 2, but this third film has unbelievable depth in terms of character development. The fancy visuals and high-tech gadgets are still there, but we get more of what made Tony Stark such an appealing character in the first film — his weaknesses. The villain exploits all of them and remains a formidable threat up till the end.

Disconnect 2012
If you liked Crash and Babel, you'll like Disconnect. The film takes you through several stories but you never feel lost for an instant. Brilliant acting all round, and a good pace makes for a very compelling film. By the way, the film has a great way of adding drama and suspense to the simple act of typing a text message. Sherlock (the BBC series) got there first, but kudos to the producers of Disconnect for using that technique well.
